Grubby… er, Lucky Paws in Coronado

February 28, 2007

The City of Albuquerque opened a brick-and-mortar adoption center in Coronado Center. NM Business Weekly reports:

The city of Albuquerque today opened its first retail outlet tied to its animal welfare facility in Coronado Center. It is one of the first municipal pet adoption centers to open in a retail environment. Called Lucky Paws, it will offer cats and dogs for adoption and provide shoppers information on spaying/neutering, microchips and basic care for animals.

Hot Dog on a Stick must have forgot to include a non-compete clause in their lease. Suckers!

A municipal adoption center in a shopping mall—it just might work. Lucky Paws is located on the First Level/Upper Floor near the Western Warehouse and Mervyns. (I believe it occupies the space of a former pet store.) The city’s website is packed with information on volunteering at the Lucky Paws adoption center. Check it out the next time you’re burning that paycheck.
