Only one day in Albuquerque

April 17, 2007

Forder’s has released a new travel guide for Santa Fe, Taos and Albuquerque. Luckily, the press release tells you how to roll the Duke City into one day — if you only have one day here, that is.

If you have just a day to spend in Albuquerque, the Fodor’s book recommends kicking it off with breakfast at the Gold Street Caffe in the heart of downtown, then checking out the shops and galleries on Gold and Central avenues. Then head to Old Town, with a stop at the Albuquerque Museum of Art and History and the Albuquerque Biological Park. For lunch, try Monica’s or the St. Clair Winery and Bistro. In the afternoon, drive to the University of New Mexico and the funky, hip Nob Hill district with its cafes and offbeat shops. A ride on the Sandia Peak Aerial Tramway is a must. Then head for dinner back in Nob Hill at Graze or Flying Star.

Not bad. We do have other museums and points of interest, but for just a day, Forder’s does a pretty decent job of laying out a manageable itinerary. Too bad they missed the news on Graze. Fortunately, there are a plethora of restaurants in Nob Hill.
