Spring Crawl plan of attack

April 27, 2007

The Weekly Alibi’s Spring Crawl is once again upon us. Five city blocks, 80+ acts, $10 wristbands — sign me up.

Bottom line, this is a great weekend for live music. Dr. Octagon returns to the Duke City tonight, down at the Launchpad. Tomorrow, Dio and Sabbath reunite as Heaven and Hell at the Journal Pavilion. Also tomorrow, Gov’t Mule is playing an early show up in the City Different at the Santa Fe Brewing Company. And of course the Spring Crawl. Oh, and Stephen Marley with brother Damien “Jr. Gong” Marley at Sunshine on Monday — MC Frontalot at Launchpad, too. Damn. Summertime is awesome.

Unfortunately, I can’t be everywhere at once, but maybe if you and I combine our physical presences (is that a word?) and wallets we can cover this weekend’s musical landscape?

So here is my Spring Crawl plan of attack, barring the likely impairment of a few beverages:

5:00 — Lowlights @ Sam Adams Third Street Outdoor Stage
6:00 — Polaroid Pornography @ Atomic Cantina
7:00 — Mei Long @ Burt’s Tiki Lounge
8:00 — The Ya Ya Boom Project! @ Ralli’s
9:00 — Toss up, Oktober People @ Sam Adams — OR — The Bellmont @ Atomic Cantina
10:00 — Toss up, Super Giant @ Burt’s — OR — Crazyfool @ Ralli’s
11:00 — Toss up, La Junta @ Sam Adams — OR — Soular @ The District’s Outdoor Stage
12:00 — Toss up, The Hollis Wake @ District Outdoor — OR — Black Maria @ Burt’s

Spring Crawl was great. Crowds seemed down, but that just meant less time in lines. All the bands I caught put on great performances. Cheers to local music.
