Albuquerque art: holding steady
American Style’s 10th annual readers poll ranked Albuquerque the No. 2 art destination among mid-sized cities for the third year in a row. Pittsburgh snagged the top spot, while Las Vegas rounded out the top three.
Pittsburgh, No. 3 last year, jump to No. 1 with some heavy ballot stuffing.
The Northern Rust Belt staked its claim on the top of the Mid- Sized Cities category, with a large number of Pittsburgh citizens casting ballots for their hometown. The more temperate Southwest proved a reader favorite with Albuquerque, N.M. (No. 2), Scottsdale, Ariz. (No. 4), and Tucson, Ariz. (No. 9).
You know what, Pittsburgh, that’s cool. We’ll let it go. Albuquerque is better than that.
Anyway, The Deming Headlight picked up on American Style’s poll and used it to promote the New Mexico Arts & Crafts Fair (June 22 to 24 at Expo New Mexico a/k/a the ‘state fair grounds’). Nice tip of the hat, Deming.
Albuquerque’s numerous art galleries and museums, not to mention events like The Neighborhood Market and Rio Grande Arts and Crafts Festivals, are a testament to the health and vibrance of the Albuquerque art scene. Throw in an online gallery or two, and I’m sure we’ll clinch that No. 1 spot next year.
“Pittsburgh Celebrates Glass!” Pssh. Give me a break (and a broom to clean up afterward).
Wow! I’d Love for Albuquerque to make it numero Uno!
