Spicing up the Midwest

July 25, 2007

When I think Ohio, I think spicy. What? You don’t?

In a week and a half Hamilton, OH will host the first ever Jungle Jim’s International Food Market’s Weekend of Fire. A mouthful, to say the least.

The inaugural Weekend of Fire will be held Aug. 4 and 5 at the Jungle Oscar Event Center. Vendors will offer tastes of a variety of products from hot sauce to salsa, barbecue, mustards and more.

Owner “Jungle” Jim Bonaminio created the Weekend of Fire after attending the Fiery Food and Barbecue Show in Albuquerque, N.M., said international foods manager Bret Vitek.

Well that’s nice. Good luck, Buckeyes. I’m not sure how well ‘hot’ foods are received in Hamilton— do they consider Chili’s a Mexican restaurant? I don’t know, but if the Fiery Food Festival can serve as your muse, I can find nothing wrong with that.

So, Ohio, when you’re done with the jungle, why don’t you come check out the high desert. You’re welcome anytime.
