Trib doesn’t want your money

August 30, 2007

Apparently, the Tribune isn’t doing anything to help its circulation woes. That’s just silly. I hope the Journal isn’t practicing some kind of perverse euthanasia. Or perhaps, since the JOA will die if the Trib is actually sold, the Journal has just stopped putting forth the effort. If that’s the case, what poor sportsmanship.

I know! I tried to subscribe, but the guy on the phone said it was an order from all the way up with the “higher-ups” that no new subscriptions for the Tribune be allowed.

What’s messed up, is A LOT of people would love to help the Tribune by subscribing now, but aren’t being allowed to. Just look at the Tribune’s comment page beneath the article about their possible closing. People are pissed about it.

Also, why not say how much it’s for sale for? Is there a conspiracy? And if so, why?

Nice site, by the way–I’ll be sure to give a link to it from mine.

I don’t know who is in the control room — Scripps or the Journal — but the whole ‘unable to subscribe’ bit stinks. I don’t see any reason for Scripps to stop taking subscriptions— the Journal? Well, where will those 10,000 Tribune readers turn once the Trib is gone? The Journal. Picking up 10k readers? Not bad.

Anyway, I really enjoy My Strange New Mexico. Thanks for your thoughtful comments.
